Screw = Flexibility = Harmony
Screw?
Yes. i am talking about screw now. i think it should not be strange for an engineer; in fact, for everyone. You can find it anywhere and evertwhere, such as your laptop (you are probably using it now. i guess.) but where can you find a really huge screw in NUS? i think all of you know about it. certainly, it is located somewhere in engineering faculty. (If u really dont have any ideas about it. u can use my displayed photo as ur hint. Haha. i think i am a bit out of track now. ) ok. why does screw equal to flexibility and then equal to harmony?
Actually, the reason is really simple. Screw has two directions-one in, one out. To be more specific, clockwise direction in; anticlockwise direction out. lets put it in this situation. when you encounter a difficulty in screwing the screw, what will you do? will you continue screw it in or out? i think you will screw it out first then screw it in again, right? so what does this mean? dont you figure out any flexibility in it? Screw works for both directions: clockwise and anticlockwise. Together, it makes a whole circle. (can you visual it?) in fact, circle signifies harmony. (i dont know whether you believe in this or not. but for me, it is true.)

What is the difference between an engineer and a normal people?
Here, i am not really elaborating the difference between an engineer and a normal people. I just wanna show an example to illustrate how an engineer and a normal people think differently.
ATM machine, i believe everyone who reading this post uses it before, and more than one once. But why is it so special to talk about it here?
To an engineer, the first thing that he/she want to do to ATM machine is how to make the processing of money quieter and quieter, or even soundless. That is a great thing for an engineer to think about.
However, why we still havent seen this kind of ATM machine before? Actually, there is a reason for it. And this is considered as a normal people's thought. It will be scary that we cant hear anything when ATM machine is processing the money as we will wonder whether the ATM machine is processing the money or not. And the next thing we will do is keep pressing those buttons and trying to figure out why ATM machine isnot processing the money.
This seems like a joke. but it is really true. think about it.

choices
Hi everyone,
i am relaxing now. hehe.
just finish my c-programming tutorial, i felt damn happy and satisfied with my work. because i am a beginner in programming, and i oready could write my own programs. thats good.
actually, what i want to say here is "maybe some schoolmates are new in singapore and havnt adapted to the environment here or other stuffs. but just be confident in yourselves and positive. this is your choice but make sure you make a correct decision."

Portfolio Task 1: The expanding world of engineers
In my opinions, I think the idea expressed by Prof. Seeram Ramakrishna in the article, The expanding world of engineers, is the most important idea to the engineering profession. This is because the ideas expressed in the article are not only significant to the engineers themselves, but also significant for other people.
For the engineers, by knowing the expanding scope of the working fields, they will be more prepared to develop themselves thoroughly through “their tertiary education which, through its curriculum design and pedagogical approach, trains the mind to systematically analyze complex sets of information and to apply systems thinking in designing solutions” (by Prof. Seeram Ramakrishna, 2007). With these skills they have learnt and the way they have developed, they will definitely find a suitable job in any particular field without putting much effort, even in the totally unrelated financial field, upon graduation. In fact, there is an increasing trend for the engineering graduates working in the financial filed as they are able to analyze the information systematically, thoroughly and critically. This seems engineering is a combination of science and art. But it is really true.
For non-engineering people, I think this is the time for them to change their mindset in viewing engineers. In the past, people always treated engineers as low-class workers. This is because they often thought that engineers were those people who did dirty and tiring jobs, such as repairing the air-con and other house applicants. Therefore, repairing stuffs was the first thing that people described an engineer last time. However, nowadays, the engineers are no longer those non-significant people in the working field. Instead, people will gradually be proud of them. This is because the engineers are always those people who stand aside to analyze information thoroughly and accurately as pursuing accuracy is one of their characteristics. And they always feel satisfied in doing so. Moreover, there are many challenges waiting for engineers to tackle with the scientists as “scientists dream about doing great things while engineers do them” (James A. Michener).
In conclusion, in today’s world, engineers are no longer just engineers.
